Erin Garis

Nurse Practitioner

Erin Garis is from New Orleans, Louisiana. She has been a nurse practitioner since 2014.

Erin earned her bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Louisiana State University, her bachelor’s degree in nursing from LSU Health Science Center and her master’s degree in nursing from the University of South Alabama. She is board-certified with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

What area of the healthcare field interests you most?
I have worked in both orthopedics and gastroenterology specialties over my more than 10-year career and have enjoyed my time in both fields. However, in the past few years as a nurse practitioner, I have had the pleasure of working in population health with the Medicare population.

What do you enjoy most about your job with AHG’s Population Health Department?
I love connecting with the Medicare population and traveling around southeast Louisiana. Through home visits I get to experience the culture of other parishes in our state. I love when I can make a difference in someone’s healthcare, whether it’s through ordering a needed screening test or helping them connect with their insurance company for questions or concerns regarding their plan.

What are some personal details about yourself you’d like to include?
I love to travel with my husband and four children. I also love jogging outside and am currently training for my fourth half-marathon.
