Our Diabetes Educators and Registered Dietitians team up to provide classes on managing diet and lifestyle when living with a diabetes diagnosis. Our classes and education groups give those with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes diagnoses the skills and resources they need to live healthy and safe lives.
Our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) and our RDNs licensed to practice in Louisiana (LDNs) provide nutritional counseling for preventive care and medical nutrition therapy for disease states for pediatric, adult, and geriatric clients. Their goal is to provide their patients with a healthy method to cope with issues such as allergies/food sensitivities, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, cancer and general wellness.
Don’t let dietary needs hold you back. Make an appointment to discuss your issues with our licensed nutritionists and take back control of your diet and your life.
An Occupational Therapist (OT) works systematically through a sequence of actions known as the occupational therapy process. OTs address treatment for children or adults with disabilities by dealing with the issues of rehabilitation, disability, and participation. When planning treatment, OTs address the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and environmental needs involved across a variety of settings. Occupational Therapy focuses on increasing ability to perform the everyday actions of a functional life.
Physical Therapists (PTs) are responsible for the treatment of individuals of any age who suffer from medical or health conditions, including illnesses and injuries, which limit their ability to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. PTs will use the patient’s history and a physical examination, and sometimes laboratory and imaging studies, to determine the best plan to overcome the patient’s limitation. These plans incorporate exercise, manual therapy, education, muscle manipulation, and other interventions.
Our PTs will work with patients to prevent loss of mobility by developing fitness and wellness programs. Our ultimate goal is to develop, maintain, and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout our patients’ lives.
The Health Management Center also offers physical therapy for women to treat bowel and bladder dysfunction, pelvic pain, and post-partum recovery. Physical therapy has proven extremely effective in helping patients overcome difficulties caused by giving birth or other health events affecting the lower body.
The goal of speech therapy is to evaluate and treat children and adults who face difficulties with communicating. This includes issues such as listening, speaking, reading, writing, or even swallowing. Our qualified Speech-Language Pathologists are able to identify and help with such candidates as an adult recovering from a stroke or a child diagnosed with autism. Our goal is to increase our patients’ communication skills for their comfort and independence.
One of Affinity’s driving principles is that we do not simply wait for health problems to occur, but actively participate in and watch our health before it becomes a problem. Our Wellness team is dedicated to helping you set goals and achieve them, never settling for less than what you know you can do. We have helped countless patients regain control of their lives through healthy eating and regular exercise. Let our team help you start and maintain a lifestyle of healthy habits.
